Become a Paralegal
The paralegal field is full of opportunities. It is a rewarding and exciting career that can be a starting point for other careers in the legal profession. Four of our students have gone on to pursue Law Degrees at UNM School of Law. Now they can “learn while they earn” gaining practical knowledge to support their studies and experience for their resumes.
The legal profession is always in need of qualified individuals. Over 90% of our students who complete the 112 hour program, and the 160 hour internship, are currently employed as paralegals. We regularly receive calls from local law offices looking to fill open positions.
We like to keep our Paralegal classes small, with about 8-12 people. This allows for a better environment for learning, interaction and instructor feedback. Students will hear real-world examples from experienced guest speakers. They will also have access to the Law Library and will get to observe real courtroom interactions. After spending eight weeks together our students will have created a supportive relationship with each other and the instructor.
The next Paralegal Studies Program will begin January 9, 2012 so. If you are interested in registering for the program, or if you would like more information, please contact Senior Program Manager, Sherry TenClay at (505) 277-6038.
