State Spanish Spelling Bee
8:00 am – 2:00 pm
New Mexico Association for Bilingual Education (NMABE) is holding a new State Spanish Spelling Bee. Over 40 participants from all over the State will compete in this contest. Poesía eres tú
8:30 am – 1:00 pm
The Spanish Resource Center together the Latino American and Iberian Institute and the National Hispanic Cultural Center organize our 12th Edition of this poetry contest. Elementary School kids (from first to fifth grade) recite a poem in Spanish in the most artistic and beautiful way in front of a crowd of over 300 people. Bilingual Seal Ceremony
2:00 pm – 6:30 pm
The Spanish Resource Center will hold the Award Ceremony for the 8th Edition of our Cuentistas Literary Contest. Middle and High School students from all over New Mexico send their stories in Spanish and they compete for the most original and artistic writings in Spanish of the State of New Mexico. In the last four years, five students have been awarded with a two week summer course in Spain.
Albuquerque band Mala Maña will play a concert after the Ceremony. The concert is organized by Instituto Cervantes and the Spanish Resource Center.
The Education Community of Albuquerque will celebrate all the students that will graduate with the Bilingual Seal this year from Albuquerque High School.
