International Tours to Cuba and Mexico
Do you share our passion for international travel and immersing yourself in vibrant cultures? UNM Continuing Education, in partnership with the UNM Latin American & Iberian Institute is offering two exciting trips this year. Mexican Cuisine and Culture, and the Art and Culture of Cuba.
Mexican Cuisine and Culture
The food landscape of Mexico is incredibly varied, complex, and historically rich. Join us on a journey to explore Mexico’s cuisine. Learn about the history and culture of Mexican foods from the Pre-Hispanic period to today as we study at La Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, a university housed in an old convent in the historic center of Mexico City. Faculty from the nationally acclaimed gastronomy program will provide lectures and hands-on culinary instruction each morning. Afternoons will be spent not only dining at restaurants that feature exemplary food and dishes that represent the various historical periods discussed in class, but also touring local museums, food markets, and nearby archaeological sites. We’ll stay at the Hampton Inn Centro Histórico, located in a former 18th century monastery that is registered with UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
